Conjugations in Past of the verb to be, was and were.

N the today article we are going to speak on the difference between the conjugations in past of the verb to be, was and were. These are in the habit of generating doubts even between students who already go a time learning English. The verb to be, in the present and in the past "it" is "brought together" is to say that it changes depending on the person. Therefore speaking exclusively in past the conjugations they stay of the following form:

… usamos WAS con:
  • II was here yesterday (Ayer estuve aquí).
  • he: She said he was happy (Ella dijo que él era feliz).
  • she: I think Ana was running (Creo que Ana estaba corriendo).
  • itThe dog was digging again! (¡El perro estaba cavando otra vez!)
… usamos WERE con:
  • you (Tu, singular) : Bob, you were at school, right? (Bob, estabas en la escuela, ¿cierto?)
  • you (Vosotros, plural): You guys were wrong (Chicos vosotros estabais equivocados).
  • we: Last month, we were very busy (El mes pasado estuvimos muy ocupados).
  • they: You believe they were away (Crees que ellos estaban fuera).
